Carolyn Nitsche of Rosehill English Labradors
When I conduct a breeding there are a few key features that I am always looking to reproduce.
First and foremost, I want to keep the temperament intact, this temperament is what makes the Labrador the number one dog in the world today.
I am shooting to produce the perfect dog. My goal is to produce a litter of puppies that are basically clones of each other, I really felt as though I had arrived as a breeder since I have been able to produce this for the last several years. I did it by breeding type to type.

What this means is not taking an American type and breeding it to an English type and expecting to produce an English type. The English dogs are the quarter horses of the breed, with their short muzzles, barrel chests and true otter tails. The American type is more like a thorough bred, with a longer body, longer legs, a more elongated head and a slicker coat.

When I look at a dog I am looking at the overall balance, from the tip of the nose to the end of his tail, I want the whole package. I lot of people just look at their heads ,while I look at their feet. When you achieve a tight, well rounded foot, the dog will actually keep their nails filed themselves, no trimming required. I'm looking for a top line that you could put a level on, and a tail set that comes right off the dogs back. I'm also looking for strong shoulders and a barrel chest.

I'm really not interested in coat color as much as I'm interested in everything underneath the coat. I sincerely hope that this description helps you to understand my breeding goals and philosophy.

I look forward to helping you and your family find a dog/ puppy that is just right for you!
